OEM Glove Packaging Checklist: Polybags, Dispenser Boxes and Cartons

For a private-label glove order, the glove itself is only one part of the buying decision. Packaging affects how the product is displayed, counted, shipped and recognised by your customer. Before asking a factory for an OEM quotation, importers should define the retail pack, outer carton, artwork and labelling requirements in writing.

This checklist helps buyers prepare a practical packaging brief for latex household gloves, industrial gloves and applicable disposable examination glove projects.

Private-label latex and nitrile glove packaging with dispenser boxes and master cartons

1. Start with the glove specification

Packaging should match the product you are buying. Confirm the glove material, application, size range, colour, length, weight or thickness, cuff style and finish before finalising the pack. A household glove sold in pairs may need a different retail format from an examination glove supplied in a dispenser box.

For a custom project, include the exact product name and the market where it will be sold. This helps the factory check whether the wording, language and product claims on the packaging are suitable for the intended application.

2. Choose the unit packaging format

Common OEM glove packaging options include:

  • Polybag: a practical option for household or industrial gloves sold in pairs or small sets.
  • Printed header card: used when the buyer wants the glove and branding visible at retail.
  • Dispenser box: commonly used for applicable disposable glove projects where controlled dispensing and clear size identification are required.
  • Pouch or retail carton: suitable for private-label retail programmes that need stronger shelf presentation.

State the number of gloves or pairs per unit, the required language, whether a barcode is needed and whether the pack should include care, storage or usage information.

3. Specify the master carton requirements

Outer cartons are part of export preparation, not an afterthought. Buyers should confirm the number of inner packs per carton, carton marking, gross-weight limit, destination marks, barcode placement and any palletisation requirement.

If several sizes or colours will be loaded together, ask for a packing breakdown before production. This makes warehouse receiving, retail allocation and container planning easier for both sides.

4. Prepare artwork that a factory can use

Send editable artwork whenever possible, together with a clear version of your logo, colour references, barcode data and the required copy for each panel. Do not rely on a low-resolution screenshot as final artwork.

Before approval, check the following items carefully:

  • Brand name and product name
  • Size and colour identification
  • Country-of-origin wording where required
  • Barcode number and barcode placement
  • Warnings, care instructions and storage information
  • Only product claims supported by the applicable documentation

5. Keep certification wording product-specific

Do not place broad certification logos or claims on packaging without checking the exact product scope. A quality-management certificate, a social audit and a product conformity document do not mean the same thing. For example, FDA 510(k) clearance applies only to the applicable patient examination glove product, not automatically to every glove in a catalogue.

Ask the factory for the product-specific documentation that applies to your order and have your own compliance team or importer review the final packaging copy before printing.

6. Approve a pre-production sample

Before mass production, approve both the glove sample and the packaging sample. A useful approval record includes the product specification, approved artwork version, sample photos, carton marking and the date of approval.

This step reduces avoidable mistakes such as a wrong size label, an outdated barcode, a different colour reference or carton marks that do not match the destination market.

7. What to send when requesting an OEM quotation

To receive a useful factory quotation, send the product type, intended application, target market, preferred packing format, estimated order quantity and any available artwork. If you do not yet have final artwork, a reference photo and a list of required information are enough to start the discussion.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use my own logo and artwork on glove packaging?

Yes. For an OEM project, buyers can provide their own logo, artwork, barcode and packaging requirements for factory review and sample approval.

What packaging should I choose for disposable gloves?

The correct format depends on the product and target market. A dispenser box is common for applicable disposable glove projects, while other formats may be more suitable for industrial or household products.

Should I approve packaging before production starts?

Yes. Approving a pre-production glove and packaging sample helps prevent artwork, labelling and carton-marking errors before mass production.
